About Dr. Cunningham

Dr. Beth Cunningham is a native of Maryland, born and raised in the Parkville area.  She graduated with highest honors from Loyola College in Baltimore before completing medical school training at the Georgetown University School of Medicine. Her internship was completed back in Maryland at Harbor Hospital and she then returned to Washington, D.C. for residency training in ophthalmology at Georgetown Hospital.  She has now been providing eye care to patients in Maryland for over ten years.

Dr. Cunningham is a board certified ophthalmologist with extensive experience.  She has performed thousands of cataract surgeries and other intraocular procedures and lasers. She treats patients with a range of eye conditions including those with diabetes, macular degeneration, and dry eye.  In particular, Dr. Cunningham enjoys caring for patients with glaucoma and pre-glaucomatous conditions with the most advanced and effective treatments.

Staff, colleagues, and patients all agree that Dr. Cunningham has a distinctly warm and compassionate bedside manner that has allowed her to develop long-term relationships with patients. This desire for continuity of care is one of the reasons Dr. Cunningham became an ophthalmologist:

“Ophthalmology is the perfect fit for me because it allows me to create meaningful relationships with my patients over the years.  Diseases such as glaucoma and macular degeneration require frequent check-ups and allow me to get to know my patients on many levels. The eye is a direct reflection on the rest of the body’s health and offers true insight into a patient’s overall well being.”

Dr. Cunningham resides in Pasadena, MD and enjoys spending her free time with her two children.
